[pvrusb2] driver (auto) loading problem

Are you sure you are dealing with a PVR USB2 device? Does this device:
http://www.hauppauge.com/pages/products/data_pvrusb2.html
resemble what you have? Just checking the obvious cause(s) first, since
this is the sort of behavior I'd expect to see if the hardware doesn't
match the driver. (And you wouldn't be the first to hit this sort of
thing.)
If you are sure you've got a matching device, then look at the USB ID
reported by the device. It should be 2040:2900 or 2040:2400.
