I have a really easy general answer for you on this:
Go look again at the main pvrusb2 web page. In the first line of the
Overview section, you'll find this sentence: "Examples for sale can be
found at pricegrabber." where "pricegrabber" is a link. Click that link
and you'll end up at a shopping bot which immediately lists a whole bunch
of merchants selling the device. It shouldn't get much easier than this,
at least if you are in the USA :-)
Specifically, you can't tell if you are getting a 24xxx device or a 29xxx
device. The packaging and official designation are the same. There is
simply no way to tell for sure unless you can open the box and look at the
white sticker on the device itself. However I imagine that the odds are
you will end up with a 24xxx device since it is newer. I haven't heard of
the device being labeled with an "MCE" designator, but the rest of the
name sounds correct. The id "99016" sounds alien.
I do know that Hauppauge is in the process of releasing a new model.
I've been told that it's basically a 24xxx device with an IR blaster added
to it. Hopefully I'll have one of these devices soon so I can confirm
that the pvrusb2 driver works OK with it.
