Right, one needs CONFIG_VIDEO_SAA711x (SAA7113) and I do not see this
driver migrated over to the V4L2 within the 2.6.17.x kernels.  So, one
also needs to acquire the newer ivtv driver besides just activating the
newer V4L layer within the kernel. (?)
