No disconnects here (i think).  You mean disconnects where the device is
abruptly disconnected (while still mounted)?

I've used all vanilla-sources-2.6.18.* released versions here on Gentoo.

Are you running a vanilla or other source tarball? (ie. Redhat, Mandrake
binary kernel, etc...)
